The Equality Act
One of the most important aspects to the legislation will be the ‘Single Equality Duty’. There are already three separate duties on public bodies to tackle discrimination and promote equality on the basis of Gender, Race and Disability. The new Equality Duty will finally bring all of these together, and expand the law to cover Sexuality, Gender Reassignment, Age, Religion and Belief. This single duty will be easier to understand for employers, and fairer for employees.
